Operator Classroom
The RoadShow

Looking Through the Rearview Mirror
Since launching in 2024, the RoadShow has introduced thousands of people to careers in highway maintenance and road building. The grant-funded outreach initiative brought state-of-the-art equipment simulators to communities, schools, and career events across BC, giving people a hands-on look at the industry.
Now, after two years of building awareness, the focus is shifting to skills and training.

A New Phase
Introducing The Operator Classroom
As of March 2026, the RoadShow is transitioning into a training program designed specifically for BCRB members and municipalities. This new phase focuses on real-world, scenario-based operator training, brought directly to members’ yards and service areas.
To meet growing demand, a second trailer is joining the fleet—BCRB The RoadShow: Operator Classroom. Together, the dual-trailer fleet significantly expands BCRB’s ability to support members with flexible, high-impact, on-site training opportunities throughout the province.

What is it
Member-focused, simulator-based operator training delivered through a mobile classroom.

Who is it for
Highway maintenance contractors, municipal partners, and other member companies that operate heavy equipment and commercial vehicles in road maintenance environments.

Why it matters
The program supports seasonal onboarding, skills development, and safer operations by allowing crews to practice complex scenarios in a controlled training environment.
Training Opportunities
The program offers a wide range of simulator-based training experiences designed to reflect real operating conditions. Training modules are organized into three core categories:
- Snowplow operations
- Heavy equipment operations
- Commercial and support vehicles
How It Works
The program is designed to make training practical and accessible for busy operations teams. Key features include:
- Two mobile training units featuring a variety of simulators
- On-site delivery at yards, service areas, or regional hubs
- Sessions facilitated by an experienced training lead
- Flexible weekly booking model designed to accommodate operational schedules
Book a Visit
The Operator Classroom is currently being scheduled for the 2026 training season, and early input from members will help shape the provincial training route. Bookings will operate on a cost-recovery basis, with discounted rates for BCRB members. We invite members and partners to register their interest!
To help introduce the new trailer and its capabilities, the BCRB team is offering complimentary on-site demonstrations. These short, no-cost visits are a great opportunity to explore whether the new Operator Classroom is a fit for your team.
