July 1st was one for the books as the RoadShow celebrated its first Canada Day on the road. It was a memorable event for multiple reasons: the RoadShow’s first visit to Shuswap and its debut appearance in a parade. From the pancake breakfast to the grand finale fireworks, the day was jam-packed with activities.

The parade kicked off at 10 am in Blind Bay—and the RoadShow was dressed for the occasion, proudly toting Canada’s unofficial mascot, the beaver! With his furry friend secured to the roof, Ken crawled the trailer down Centennial Drive, handing out candy and waving to the crowd before winding up in Centennial Field, where it posted up for the day.

The event was well attended, with live music, games, food vendors, and a steady stream of participants of all ages eager to experience the RoadShow. The simulators received rave reviews from experienced industry folks, but one attendee made a special impression. While we typically reserve the simulators for people over the age of 16, one talented 11-year-old tried their hand on the rock truck—and scored 100 per cent. If this promising young operator decides to go into this line of work one day, we see a bright career in their future.

It was a great event, and we’d like to thank all the volunteers who helped make it happen. Thank you for having us, Shuswap! Until next time.
